Held in ancient times to honor gods, kings and special guests the luau is the most significant celebration in Hawai’i. For a truly unique luau experience, visit Hanalei Colony Resort and the Mediterranean Gourmet Restaurant. Set on Kauai’s far north shore in the town of Haena, the award-winning Mediterranean Gourmet Restaurant sits just feet from the ocean and offers the most intimate luau on the island of Kauai.
The Hanalei by the Sea Luau begins as you walk through the door and are greeted with a smile and shell lei, then led to your table and offered a complimentary beverage. A conch shell is blown to signal the beginning of the show and a blessing is offered in traditional Hawaiian fashion to set the tone for what is sure to be a memorable evening.
The entertainment commences with a traditional Hawaiian music performance. Your host for the evening is the very charming and engaging Coppin Colburn, whose talented family performs throughout the evening.
The evening includes a lavish buffet dinner featuring traditional luau foods including lomi lomi salmon, taro rolls, poi, fresh island fish, kalua pork, and haupia cake, as well as a variety of other dishes.
The real excitement begins after dinner, with an extensive hula and dance performance that takes the audience on a journey throughout the South Pacific, culminating in a dramatic fire knife performance.
The Hanalei by the Sea Luau is truly miles away from the typical luau. With seating limited to 80, you’ll be treated to the most intimate luau experience on the island, and superior service from the professional wait staff — on hand to cater to your every need.
The luau takes place every Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. Prices for the luau are $69 for adults; $56 for children age 12 to 17; $25 for children age 3 to 11; and free for children under age three. Advance reservations are required. Please contact Guest Services at 808-826-1220 or email guestservices@hcr.com. You are also welcome to contact the restaurant directly at 808-826-9875.
